Was on subcity radio today again, played a few of my own songs. If you've a spare few minutes give it a listen :)

Finished 1984, really enjoyed it but the second part drags on too much. I think the massive chunks of Goldstein's book is really tough to get through. The third part got me totally hooked again though and I read pretty much the whole of it on the train to and from the radio station this morning.

Dunno what to read now, I've read the first couple chapters of the Wizard of Oz and it'sreally short so it'll probably be that.

I'm open to suggestions for books to buy, my to read shelf is massiveat the moment though so god knowswhen I'll get round to anything :P

Sweet jesus how in the hell did this happen?
I was planning to work today goddammit.

It's 6pm now, i'd planned that by now I'd have landscape art and storyboards completed for my graded unit. But here I am, i've done nothing.....this isn't good at all.

There is some conspiracy dwelling within me that won't let me pass my course.

this sucks

Today I got up early and nipped off into Glasgow to guest host my friend's uni radio show and it was a total blast, i had such a good time. I got invited back on again next week to play a few of my own songs live which i'm also incredibly hyped about.

If you click the big red listen button then you'll be able to hear the entire show, I'd really appreciate it if you did that'd be great.

Finished The rum diary, really good, felt it kinda rushes a bit at the end but despite that it's very enjoyable, I can't be bothered with 1984 at the moment because I'm at the point where winston is reading the book of the brotherhood and it's just tedious, i can't be bothered with 20 more pages of this, i just want story advancement.

Got Rocky Horror and shock treatment on dvd also, didn't watch all shock treatment yet but it looks decent.

also please check out my dailybooth, I've become addicted to it of late.

I've been watching lectures on Ted and I feel compelled to do something creative so I figure I may as well write in this, in fact I've been meaning to start working with this for a while now, my youtube channel is on a kind of hiatus for now so I feel a desire to do something creative and bloggy.
Don't hold me to this but i'm planning on writing in this from now on as much as I can. Dailybooth's daily photos are inspiring me too make daily things again, writing as much as i can will be good for filling the verbal part of my desire while dailybooth will act as the visual.

I love art projects that seem to exist for no other reason to make the user feel good, things like postsecret, learning to love you more and we feel fine. If anyone can give me links to anything else akin to these projects I would greatly appreciate it.

Currently reading two books, both of which I'd really like too have finished for the end of the easter break so I can start the final term with some fresh books.

1984 - George Orwell = I've wanted to read this for a long time and I'd started it several times but never made it beyond the first few pages. I'm currently coming up to the end of the second part of the book and I'm really enjoying it.

The Rum Diary - Hunter S. thompson = Hunter's second novel after Prince Jellyfish which is still unpublished, this one didn't get published till 1998 despite being written in the 50's, I'm just about 30 pages from the end and it's very good, a bit different from what he did in his later work but still really good.

Dunno what I'll be reading next, my to-read pile has exploded lately and it's huge, fancy something short and sweet though so maybe the wizard of oz or the sweet smell of psychosis by Will Self.

When you’re feeling depressed there’s always one person who will be angry at you. They’ll talk to you in such a way as to suggest that you’re underserving of the emotion because of your situation. “Oh I’m sorry” they’ll say sarcastically, “I didn’t realise you were living in third world poverty….what type of cancer is it? How long to you have to live?”
Their way of thinking seems to suggest that you can only experience emotion when the situations leading to the birth of emotion are at their most extreme.
It’s like saying you can only be happy if it’s your wedding day, you’ve won the lottery or you’ve just become a father.
One has to wonder what these people think about themselves when they’re miserable.

Me I am of the opinion that how devastating your situation is, is relevant to you and nobody else. If that weren’t the case none of us would ever feel anything. If one person is sad because their girlfriend has left them and another is sad because their team lost in the cup final who are you to say whose pain is greater?

I reserve the right to be depressed even if there’s nothing in the world to be upset about.
I reserve the right to be devastated by the big things.
I reserve the right to feel however I want to feel.
